As special counsel Robert Mueller continues his probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, we take a look back at Washington’s record of meddling in elections across the globe. By one count, the United States has interfered in more than 80 foreign elections between 1946 and 2000. And that doesn’t count U.S.-backed coups and invasions. We speak to former New York Times reporter Stephen Kinzer, author of “Overthrow: America’s Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq.”

Democracy Now! has by now compiled a long record of progressive reporting and analysis, but lately, Amy Goodman's politics seem to have changed somehow and this is reflected on her show. On too many occasions, she has featured odious establishment figures (i.e., regime change enthusiast Samantha Power) to spout the State Dept line, as if "corporate-style objectivity" were necessary for DN!.  So, while watching what is, overall, a helpful program, especially when used with people who lack any knowledge about US foreign policy, keep in mind that Gofman and most f her guests tend to remain within the confines of liberaldom.

Must Watch 2008 Debate: U.N. Ambassador Nominee Samantha Power vs. Journalist Jeremy Scahill

http://www.democracynow.org - President Obama is set to nominate former White House aide Samantha Power to replace Susan Rice as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Power has long been a staunch advocate for U.S. intervention on moral grounds. In 2008, she appeared on Democracy Now! to debate journalist Jeremy Scahill about Kosovo, Iraq sanctions and Bill Clinton's foreign policy record. Power wrote extensively about Bosnia and Kosovo in her book, "A Problem From Hell: America and the Age of Genocide," which won a 2003 Pulitzer Prize (sic). Scahill covered the NATO bombings of Kosovo and Yugoslavia for Democracy Now! in 1999. Scahill is the author of the new book "Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield." The film of the same names opens in theaters on June 7.
