For all the cogent and eloquent analysis about the state of US society, Hedges can never refrain from taking potshots at “authoritarians” (i.e., Stalin, the Soviet Union, the Serbs in the Yugoslav civil war).     ERIC ZUESSE—A third leading Ukrainian racist fascist, or ideological nazi, whom the U.S. Government hired into the new Ukraine’s national-security leadership, was Andrei Biletsky, who had founded the far-right “Patriot of Ukraine” group and its Azov Battalion of openly Hitler-admiring fighters. That Battalion started in 2015 to receive support from America’s CIA and to be integrated into the new Ukraine’s army as its most elite fighting force. They are (or were) centered in Mariupol and along the Ukrainian border just outside the breakaway far-eastern Donbass region, where the Battalion were constantly shelling into that region in order to kill and/or compel to flee anybody who lived in that region, which had voted over 90% for Yanukovych (“Janukovych”).

    DW (Deutsche Welle is Germany’s official public tv channel/news service. It has now joined the lynching mob against Russia, so this documentary is an anomaly. It aims to show the “militarisation” of the Russian people on account of the Western menace, which the documentarian, in typical NATO-approved fashion, implicitly derides as a myth.  In fact, wide-scale political mobilization was a reality in the Soviet Union, given its nonstop struggle against internal enemies, saboteurs, etc., many paid and organized by the West, and its ever-present external enemies, including the Anglo-American alliance, and later fascist Germany itself. But the camera cannot lie 100%, so with all the deformations we find in its presentation, it shows some important truths about life in Russia and the former USSR, and the price paid by the Russian/Soviet people for the repugnant war —economic, political, diplomatic, informational, and kinetic (shooting)—incessantly waged on them by the Western powers, led by the Anglo-Americans.
