A Global War on Multiple Fronts? Examining the U.S. Strategy to Maintain Hegemony by Targeting Venezuela, Gaza, and the BRICS Alliance.
From Gaza to Venezuela, this is a world war orchestrated by the imperialists in order to sustain their global hegemony. As Trump prepares to militarily invade Venezuela, we must connect the dots.
Under the guise of “combatting crime,” Trump has systematically targeted migrants in the U.S, whether they be legal or otherwise — as well political dissent against the ruling class apparatus, with the Washington DC takeover being one such classic example.
This is part and parcel of the innate fascist nature of capitalism, that has historically funded, armed and trained ruthless fascist dictators such a Franco in Spain, the Junta fascist regime in Greece, Pinochet in Chile and Hitler himself — all for the purpose of preventing the rise of communist and socialist states. The reason for this is that communism and socialism are the greatest force to threaten the global economic hegemony of the West, which relies on the subservience of the world to Western private capital, for its survival.
In a similar fashion the United States via the CIA, indirectly funded, strengthened, and enabled the criminal networks that went on to become the major drug trafficking cartels throughout Latin America — as a medium by which to tackle revolutionary socialist movements in the continent that aimed to expel Western imperialism.
One such example was the CIA’s support for the Contras in Nicaragua —that systematically engaged in armed terrorism against the left-wing Sandinista government—during the 1980s.
This was confirmed by official investigations such as the 1989 Senate Subcommittee Report, which was chaired by the then Senator John Kerry. This investigation concluded that “there was substantial evidence of drug smuggling through the war zones on the part of individual Contras, Contra suppliers, and Contra pilots throughout the years of the great Contra war.”
The same report found that U.S. government agencies, including the CIA, “failed to address the drug issue for fear of jeopardizing the war efforts against leftist Nicaraguan leadership — proving that the U.S openly funded and helped strengthen the drug cartels in Nicaragua as a matter of foreign policy, in order to counter socialist organic movements in the continent.
Similarly, the CIA Inspector General’s Report in 1998, found that the CIA had worked with dozens of Contras and Contra suppliers who were suspected of drug trafficking. In fact, the Reagan administration continued to seek and obtain funding for the Contras even after Congress banned direct U.S. government funding with the Boland Amendment. To circumvent the ban, officials orchestrated a private arms network and sought funds from foreign governments and wealthy individuals, as revealed in the Iran-Contra affair.
Thus, the U.S imperialist machine empowered and strengthened criminal drug cartels for the purpose of undermining the democratic sovereignty of Latin American states, by promoting terrorist gangs that threatened the revolutionary movements of its people, and galvanised nefarious systemic structures that would actively sustain poverty in Latin America — thus permitting its persistent exploitation by Western capital.
By fuelling the drug cartel industry in Latin America, both directly and indirectly — this also provided the U.S with the requisite pre-text by which to perpetually intervene within the internal affairs of Latin American states, claiming “national security threats.” This is not too dissimilar to the way in which the U.S has historically armed and funded Al Qaeda as well as other extremist groups in West Asia, in order to bring about regime change or combat communism — only to then use the same groups they funded, as pretext to justify further involvement in the region.
In the same light, Trump is now using the same justification to militarily invade Venezuela, as he has deployed three U.S warships to be stationed off the coast of Venezuela. This would include the USS San Antonio, USS Iwo Jima and USS Fort Lauderdale — all of which are carrying 4,500 US service members, including 2,200 Marines. The objective of this military escalation, as per the White House, is to fight against “narco-terrorists” — a claim that is encapsulated by Trump’s most recent decision to legally categorise drug cartels as terrorist groups.
This far reaching legal definition of “terrorism” is part of a broader attempt by the capitalist ruling class, to obscure the legal scope of what is categorised and understood as “terrorism,” so as to legitimise the authoritarian crackdown within the U.S, as well as to serve as pretext for their global agenda.
Consequently, in light of these new legal and political definitions — Venezuela is once again on the receiving end of a new wave of imperialist aggression, this time, in the name of “narco-terrorism.”

For decades the CIA has orchestrated coups against both Chavez and Maduro, in order to undermine the Venezuelan people’s Bolivarian revolution, and to re-insert a pro-Western puppet regime that would serve the interests of Western capital. This is in addition to the systematic destruction of the Venezuelan economy via the use of illegal sanctions, that according to the UN Special Rapporteur report in 2019, constitute as “crimes against humanity,” due to the sanctions deliberate starvation and malignant impact upon the Venezuelan people.
In fact, according to a report published by Jeffrey Sachs via the Centre for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) in 2019 – over 40,000 Venezuelans died between 2017 – 2019, as a result of the U.S sanctions upon the country. Yet despite the imperialist barbarity against the Venezuelan people, the imperialists failed to accomplish their aims, as the Venezuelan people stood resilient and defiant against Western imperialism.
Thus, having failed to destroy the socialist revolutionary state of Venezuela, the U.S in desperation, is now actively attempting to militarily involve itself in Venezuela – as a last resort policy.
With rhetoric that resembles that of the Iraq “War on Terror” and the fabrication of Iraq’s possession of “weapons of mass destruction”, Trump’s “narco-terrorism” allegations are part of the long standing U.S foreign policy position that demands the complete control of Venezuela’s oil into the hands of U.S private companies — much like in Iraq.
In a 2023 interview, when questioned about the 2019 U.S-backed coup in Venezuela, Trump in no certain terms made it clear that the goal of the U.S was and still remains — to “take over the oil.”
Venezuela has the world’s largest proven oil reserves, and to have control over such a valuable resource, as well as the oil of U.S comprador states like Canada and Saudi Arabia’s — shall allow the imperialists to sustain control over the world economy via trade and the petrodollar.
Much like the genocide in Gaza, the regime change in Syria, the war in Ukraine and the looming war against Iran — the threat against Venezuela is part of the broader imperialist war against the working class world-wide, by most importantly, China.
It is a war that is meant to deplete BRICS, to absorb the world’s resources, and to obstruct Chinese influence in Latin America. After all, Venezuela is a vital participant in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), attracting abundant Chinese investments in Venezuelan infrastructure, energy, and mining endeavours, among other sectors.
China’s involvement in Venezuela accomplishes several objectives, all of which threaten Western imperialism.
Firstly, it provides Venezuela with the opportunity to become economically sovereign, by by-passing U.S sanctions via BRICS and its bilateral trade and local currency uses, as well as by developing the requisite industrial infrastructure that shall allow the country to economically prosper. In doing so, this shall weaken the United States ability to infiltrate and exploit Venezuela, which is vital to the preservation of imperialism.
Additionally, as China deepens its involvement and investment in Venezuela — this shall become a blueprint for other Latin American states that wish to break away from the bondage of the U.S and seek economic sovereignty via the advanced industrialisation and investment opportunities offered by China.
In an attempt to therefore catch-up and thwart the rise of BRICS, and China specifically — the U.S is in a race against time. This is why the genocide in Gaza is taking place with wilful U.S backing, as it is vital in order to establish “The New Middle East,” — one which requires the extermination of the Palestinians and all resistance factions that oppose imperialism and their plans. In doing so, it will allow the U.S to counter the BRI and China in West Asia, just as a war in Venezuela would attempt to thwart China and the BRI in Latin America.
As capitalism collapses upon its own contradictions, its fascist nature is now being exposed to the world. It was always there, albeit it was better able to disguise itself via the use of diplomatic etiquette.
That is no longer possible, as the dictatorship of capital faces its greatest risk yet. This is why we are in an overt world war, with multiple fronts ranging from Latin America, Africa and Asia – as the death of the imperialist beast will not go down without a fight.

The USA’s frenzied wet dream about regime changing Venezuela today, is as much about drugs as the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 was about WMDs.
Any guesses as to what it’s all about?
