EDITOR—The Destruction of Democracy in the EU.  The EU  has recently announced a Democracy Shield – to monitor “information manipulation.” It also includes a Media Resilience Program to support independent journalism.  What is this but a Ministry of Truth and an assault on free speech and national sovereignty? The media landscape in Europe is already corrupted by a large censorship machine. An EU funded CERV, Creative Europe and other sources funnel billions of euros into organisations that are supposedly independent but are not. Now even more funds will go into super- charging Brussels propaganda. 

EDWARD CURTIN—There is history worth remembering as Trump is lauded in certain circles on the so-called “right” and “left” as a peacemaker with Russia over the US/NATO proxy war against Russia via Ukraine: President Richard Nixon, who ran as the peace candidate in 1968 with a “secret plan” for peace in Vietnam that was actually a plan for more war, visited China in February 1972 in a move to exploit the Soviet-China split, and yet the US war against Vietnam went on until April 30, 1975 when the U.S. was driven out of Vietnam.

ERIC ZUESSE—The sheer hypocrisy of the U.S. and its colonies is the reason why the contempt for the U.S. Government is now soaring around the world.

The result of this increasing public contempt against America will be growing movements, around the world, to condemn and to marginalize not ONLY the U.S. Government (which leads this warmongering hypocrisy — such as regarding the war in Ukraine) but ALL of the OTHER Governments within its empire. The end-result of this will be the downfall of the American empire — which, like ALL empires, is an empire of conquest and of war.

EDITORS—For the past 10 months, Gaza’s Palestinians have faced what can be described as a war of extermination, with the Israeli occupation targeting all facets of Palestinian life and systematically eliminating resistance leaders both domestically and abroad. 

Thus, the announcement of Yahya Sinwar’s election as Haniyeh’s successor in Gaza was both a surprise to the Israeli occupation and a cause for celebration among Palestinians and their factions.

J. PAUWELS —In comparison with other capitals, Paris looked über–bourgeois after 1871. It is hardly surprising that the city was admired, visited, and praised by bourgeois women and men, young and old, conservative as well as avant-garde, from all over the world, that is, the “Western” world that was becoming increasingly industrial, capitalist and, indeed, bourgeois. From the four corners of the earth, well-to-do burghers converged on Paris like Catholic pilgrims converge on Rome or Muslim pilgrims on Mecca. Conversely, a bourgeoisified Paris, most effectively symbolized by “Haussmannian” town planning and architecture, migrated to cities all over the world where the bourgeoisie likewise triumphed politically, socially, and economically.
