Scaled to 4.6 years, humans have been here 4 minutes.
Capitalism has been here ten seconds.
In that ten seconds, humans have destroyed half the world’s forests.
In the last two seconds humans have killed off half the world’s wildlife.
Capitalism is the most pernicious evil ever to have been visited upon the planet. It is an economic system not unlike cancer. Capitalism posits a never ending supply of resources to be consumed, a never ending demand by a gullible and malleable public, a political system easily controlled by business, and politicians and journalists easily bribed, cajoled, co-opted, and manipulated..
Capitalism is the most pernicious evil ever to have been visited upon the planet.
Capitalism is very much like the Ebola virus as well. Like all malignancies of the first order, Capitalism kills the Earth as Ebola kills its hosts, with no thought, plan, or vision beyond consuming the body.
Unlike Ebola, there is no other Earth to infect, and once this one is dead or dying, there is no turning back.
Capitalism sells itself as freedom, as opportunity, as the promise of wealth, well-being, and a bright and glorious future. That it is, but only for a handful of billionaires and the very lucky. For Capitalism is not a real system of social organization; it is a grand casino, a gambling joint, with the odds stacked against the overwhelming majority of the playing suckers. Thus, for the great majority of the world, capitalism is plunder, exploitation, economic slavery, sweatshops, rainforest and habitat destruction, strip-mining, clear-cutting, scorched earth, poisoned streams and rivers, pollution of the oceans, and poisoning of the air. It is poverty, abuse, hunger, and cruelty.
And the warming of the Globe.
In the age of advanced technology, Capitalism shows what an industrial system entirely devoid of ethics can do.
Scientists tell us we are in the throes of the Sixth Great Extinction. They tell us that human activity is changing the climate. They warn we may have passed the point of no return.
Reasonable people clamor for corrective action.
Unreasonable ones deny the truth and urge nothing be done lest it interfere with profits.
Who would do such a thing? Risk the very Earth we live on?
Conservatives.
They are apologists for capitalism. They are the stooges and bagmen for the system that is killing the Earth, the animals, and will eventually kill millions of people.
All for profit in the here and now.
Damn the future and those who will live in it.
Damn the animals.
And damn the Earth.
Those knowingly doing this are the worst criminals ever to have lived. Worse than Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, or Truman.
They are the scourge of the Earth, the murderers of Earthlings, the muggers of humanity.
In the US they are the Republicrats, in the UK they are the Tories and the Laborites. In other countries they go by any number of political party names. They are all instruments of the reigning global corporatocracy.
The common denominator is that, by any name or label they choose to operate under, they are the conservatives. The people who like it the way it is, who are invested in the status quo. As politicians they are the concubines of the system. Besides America, the world citadel for all reaction, they run Germany, Australia, Japan, Canada, Korea, France, Spain, Italy, and most nations on Earth.
The enemies of animals. The enemies of the Earth. The enemies of humanity.

Well, I might disagree with blaming it all on conservatives and Republicans. I would also blame it on liberals and Democrats, who are kinder and gentler, and who believe in the fantasy of a kinder, gentler capitalism. Peter Camejo said a liberal is someone who “likes capitalism, but not what capitalism does” — and I guess he meant that liberals don’t see what capitalism is actually doing. — But really, I’m not sure what the words “liberal” and “conservative” mean any more. I think most people in our society use those terms to refer to Democrats and Republicans, but there is very little space between those two parties; that is illustrated by the chart below. (It’s ironic that there is so little difference between Obamacare and the Romneycare on which it was based.)
There is a difference between the Democrats and Republicans. They have different styles of lies. The Democrats say “we’re putting the people ahead of the plutocrats,” which is a lie. The Republicans say “we’re putting the plutocrats first, but it works out better for everyone that way,” and the second clause of that statement is a lie.
The Democrats and Republicans have identical actions regarding ecocide, but they say different things about it. The Republicans say “we should address ecocide never, because that would be bad for the economy.” The Democrats say “we should address ecocide, but later; first we need to fix the economy.” The results are the same. And actually neither is fixing the economy, because actual economics is the opposite of what they say it is.
