Miracles cannot save every creature in danger of “social euthanasia’ if the system is broken.

Suffering in any sentient creature is always heartbreaking (for those who are not born sociopaths), and in helpless creatures, when the suffering is avoidable, and largely -“man-made”—doubly painful and intolerable.I am happy to see this pair of beautiful canine friends saved at the 11th hour. One wishes that no-kill shelters were the rule by now, but apparently that is still not the case. Animal overpopulation in urban areas (and beyond, for that matter) is essentially a political problem, to be decided and solved by allocating resources to it: municipal and state employees, education campaigns, good shelters, etc., all of which implies a better and more civilized management of what a society has, how it budgets its money, instead of wasting most of its treasury on criminal wars, or in no-questions-asked grants in the trillions of dollars to save the crooks in Wall Street and the rest of the high-flying financial mafia.

Kala and Keira, two shelter dogs who were hours from certain death by euthanization, proved that hugs can save lives. Two hours and six minutes after a photo of Kala, the brown dog, hugging her friend was posted on Facebook, they found a foster home willing to take them in and save them from certain death.
Their photo was shared by Angels Among Us, a pet rescue in Georgia that saves dogs and cats from other high-kill shelters in the rest of the state. Along with their heartfelt plea, their photo sent a powerful message: these dogs, and many others just like them, need your help! [/learn_more]
