BILLY BOB—Episode 160 of Blowback: Exposing Imperial Decline features hosts Billy Bob, Ian Kummer, Carlo Parcelli, and guest Greg Rosen discussing the concept of “liberal genocide”—the paradox where liberal democracies, often proclaiming human rights values, have historically engaged in or facilitated genocides to sustain oligarchic power and imperial interests. They examine multiple examples of genocidal actions post-World War II—including U.S.-backed death squads in Latin America, mass killings in Indonesia, devastation in Vietnam and Korea, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The conversation highlights Western hypocrisy, especially the stark contrast between proclaimed liberal values and actions taken abroad, with Gaza as a particularly egregious example where Western media and governments have largely ignored or justified atrocities.

EDITOR—Western attempts to enforce secondary sanctions on countries like India and China over Russian oil imports are largely symbolic and impractical. India and China’s refusal to comply highlights the declining leverage of the U.S. and the resilience of emerging economies. This signals a fundamental shift in global trade dynamics, where Western economic coercion is losing potency against the growing economic clout and strategic autonomy of BRICS nations. The episode emphasizes that threats without enforcement mechanisms undermine Western credibility and accelerate the decline of its hegemonic power.
The discussion underlines how energy markets are deeply intertwined with global geopolitics. Russia’s enhanced oil infrastructure and partnerships with countries like India and China enable it to circumvent Western sanctions. Furthermore, Western influence over Gulf States and oil pricing remains a critical but contested lever. The potential sabotage of Russian oil shipments by British forces, if realized, could trigger environmental disasters and military escalation, underscoring the fragility of global energy security and its role in geopolitical rivalry.

BLOWBACK—The panel explores distinctions between socialism, communism, and social democracy, emphasizing that socialism involves both political and economic control by the working class, rather than simply public ownership of the means of production. They highlight China’s pragmatic adaptation of socialism, incorporating elements of capitalism and private ownership within a state-led framework to fuel development, a strategy that has dramatically improved living standards in China and other socialist-oriented countries like Vietnam.
The discussion also addresses China’s foreign policy approach, which contrasts sharply with Western imperialism by emphasizing peaceful trade, non-interference, and solidarity with the Global South. China’s role in developing infrastructure and renewable energy, particularly in Africa, is presented as an alternative to exploitative Western models. The hosts criticize Western media and political elites for promoting false narratives about China and socialism, which serve to confuse and divide working-class populations globally.

Christopher Black’s Lifelong Battle for International Criminal Justice
Christopher C. Black fought for justice in politically agendized international courts.by Billy Bob1Hr 47 Mins • Watch / readANN GARRISON—Speaking in 2015 at the annual Rhodes Forum held by the Dialogue of Civilizations think tank, Christopher Black said, “The point of these tribunals, why they were set up, is basically propaganda. That’s their only real role. The propaganda is to put out a story about the war with which they’re concerned, and the propaganda is meant to demonize the government which has been overthrown, and to cover up the real role of the United States and its allies in that war. And that’s the only role these trials really have.”

The Contradictions of National Capitalism or “Nacism”
Can NACISM, or "national capitalism" even be a thing? The jury is divided.by Billy Bob1:32 Hrs • Watch / read• The panel, with guests Greg Rosen and Indrajit Samarajiva, discusses the approaches used by capitalist elites to slow down the decline of the US global empire, keep extracting hefty profits (now increasingly from their own domestic populations), and the patchwork of highly contradictory measures and assumptions—many borrowed from or resembling those intrinsic to socialism (such as planning, for example)—which aim to “fix” capitalism’s cyclical and long-term crises to fulfill the vision of capitalism as the most perfect system of social organization, “the end of history”, or class struggle, as proclaimed by ideologue Francis Fukuyama. Of course, the official face of capitalism, “liberal democracy”, can never be stable, since its inner dynamic is controlled by the ever and inevitably evolving capitalism, whose trajectory—in the long run—flows toward frequent crises, and eventually, revolution or fascism.
