PATRICE GREANVILLE—Russell Bentley, quickly nicknamed “Texac” after he first touched Slavonic ground, has always. been a highly improbable character. A native son of Texas and a Communist, gifted with more than his share of valor and audacity, but above all a man of action, he didn’t have to meditate too long to figure what he needed to do when he heard about the US coup in Kiev in 2014, and the ensuing war by the new neo-Nazi regime on the rebel republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Echoing the International Brigades, he simply packed his things and made his way at his own expense to the Donbas, via Russia. Once there, to the surprise of many (he was certainly not exactly in his prime), he offered his services as a frontline soldier and soon enough was involved in several (by now) almost legendary battles in the first war between the young but tough little republics and the much larger but apparently tactically deficient (though still vicious) Ukrop army.
NAZIS & FASCISTS
EDITOR—An absorbing discussion of current events in the Middle East, and the world at large, with focus on Gaza and Lebanon, and the recent upset victory of George Galloway in the UK, as the Empire continues to escalate the conflict wile the axis of resistance weighs its own options.
Dan Yaseen interviews Jeff J. Brown on KFCF 88.1 FM: NATO’s proxy war to destroy West Asia is called the Palestine Holocaust.
China Rising Radio Sinoland 23112075 Mins readDAN YASEEN—Gaza is five miles wide and 25 miles long. Israel has 170,000 troops and 465,000 reserves. The US has already sent two aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean with 10,000 sailors. The US is sending the US Army 101st Airborne Division to Jordan. Also, a rapid response force consisting of 2000 Marines has been there. The USA already has 60 to 80,000 troops stationed in the Middle East. It seems as if the United States is preparing for World War three. Jeff, give us your analysis of what’s going on in Israel-Palestine.
ERIC ZUESSE—Both the growing power and extremism of the Orthodox in Israel was highlighted in the last week of January when one of their most influential rabbis, Shmuel Eliyahu, publicly came to the defence of five students accused of murdering Aisha Rabi, a Palestinian mother of eight. Back in October they stoned her car near Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, forcing her off the road.
Eliyahu is the son of a former chief rabbi of Israel, Mordechai Eliyahu, and himself sits on the Chief Rabbinical Council, which controls many areas of life for Israelis. He is also the municipal rabbi of Safed, a city that in Judaism has the equivalent status of Medina in Islam or Bethlehem in Christianity, so his words carry a great deal of weight with Orthodox Jews.
CHRIS HEDGES—Israel was founded on lies. The lie that Palestinian land was largely unoccupied. The lie that 750,000 Palestinians fled their homes and villages during their ethnic cleansing by Zionist militias in 1948 because they were told to do so by Arab leaders. The lie that it was Arab armies that started the 1948 war that saw Israel seize 78 percent of historic Palestine. The lie that Israel facedannihilation in 1967, forcing it to invade and occupy the remaining 22 percent of Palestine, as well as land belonging to Egypt and Syria.
