AMERICAN DUPLICITY

GLEB BAZOV—The tragedy of the MH17 (Malaysian Airlines) liner destroyed over Novorossiya in July 2014 gave the western propaganda machine, already in full Russophobic footing under Barack Obama, a huge opportunity to vilify Russia (and the rebel republics in Eastern Ukraine) as cold-blooded murderers. The ensuing “expert” investigation spearheaded by the US/NATO powers was vitiated from the start by arbitrary management of the evidence, exclusion of critical legitimate parties (Russia and Malaysia itself), and a near-total lack of transparency.

GARY LEUPP—Let the Russians and Chinese, India and Brazil, everybody everywhere understand that the U.S. is not, should not, and cannot be what it so arrogantly pretends to be: world leader and moral exemplar. It is rather a behemoth in steep decline, hopelessly corrupt and fundamentally unjust, despite its vast wealth and ferocious martial might unable to control the course of global events or even bully its closest allies into obedience.

RNN—Take a step back, earlier in ‘Listen, Liberal’ I wrote about the Clinton Foundation and what the Clinton Foundation does. I’m not talking here about the various accusations that people made of them, acting as a slush fund or that sort of thing. What I’m talking about is the way that they act as a — how would you put this– a moral exchange, for people who are quite bad. A lot of foundations do this, so my argument is that this is what liberalism is—

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—Luckily, because a full scale invasion of Iran would be far more costly and deadly than the invasion of Iraq, support for this will need to be manufactured not just in America but within an entire coalition of its allies. This will be extremely difficult to do, but by God they are trying.

FRANK SCOTT—The growth of liberal fascism can seem an over statement, but when reactionary free market fanatics and racist foreign policy felons begin to sound thoughtful by comparison to what often passes for progressive political voices in America, it is no laughing matter.
