An interview packed with straightforward truths about the cynicism and immorality of our foreign policy, based, as unfortunately too few people realise or accept, on naked imperialism, by a witness with a front-row seat. The picture is not pretty, what we are doing in Ukraine—what we have been doing in Ukraine for now almost 80 years, if not longer—would turn the stomach of any decent person or genuine US patriot. It's clear, suggests Scott Ritter, that the US ruling elites do not practice at all the values they profess to honor, and that in their current course, to maintain world hegemony by any means necessary, they are engaging in a new global Cold War that targets China, Russia, and Iran, among the main recipients of US aggression and treachery, plus a policy riddled with sociopathic short-term thinking aimed at quick enrichment that seeks impossible objectives, such as the weakening and destruction of Russia, even if this risks a terminal nuclear war.

Scott Ritter is a former Marine intelligence officer who served in the former Soviet Union, implementing arms control agreements, and on the staff of General Norman Schwartzkopf during the Gulf War, where he played a critical role in the hunt for Iraqi SCUD missiles. From 1991 until 1998, Mr. Ritter served as a Chief Inspector for the United Nations in Iraq, leading the search for Iraq’s proscribed weapons of mass destruction. Mr. Ritter was a vocal critic of the American decision to go to war with Iraq. His new book, Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika: Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union, is his ninth.
