THE SAKER—The missile is… well, for the lack of better word, stunning–it is M=10+ highly maneuverable missile with the range of 2000 kilometers. Naval warfare as we know it is over. Without any overly-dramatic emphasis–we are officially in a new era. No, I repeat, NO, modern or perspective air-defense system deployed today by any NATO fleet can intercept even a single missile with such characteristics. The salvo of 5-6 of such missiles is a guaranteed destruction of any Carrier Battle Group.

CHRISTOPHER BLACK—The important point is that the allegations link him to Russians and the constant menacing theme in the mass media that NATO countries and “democracy” are under threat from Russian subversion. The objective is two-fold; primarily to recreate Russians as the “other,” as the enemy that needs to be dealt with and, secondarily, to discredit political parties and suppress popular movements that have social and economic justice as their aims.

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS—There is little doubt in my mind that if the crazed neoconservatives and military/security complex in Washington had these weapons and Russia did not, Washington would launch an attack on Russia. Putin, however, declared that Russia has no territorial ambitions, no hegemonic ambitions, and no intention to attack any other country. Putin described the weapons as the necessary response to the West’s firm refusal year after year to accept peace and cooperation with Russia, instead surrounding Russia with military bases and ABM systems.

The President of Russia delivered the Address to the Federal Assembly (with full video)
76 minutes readConsidering the unusually strained relations between Russia and the US, the result of Washington’s refusal to let go of its dream of global supremacy, Putin had to dedicate a portion of his presentation to his country’s preparations for war and hopefully survival. Speaking evenly and forthrightly, he said that the US bloc with its saber-rattling and economic blockades had failed to damage or contain Russia. He unveiled several new strategic systems—based on advanced rocketry— and it’s clear that Moscow is putting its hopes on these new weapons to deter Western aggression and reckless adventurism. But will they be enough?

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE—I would like to point out that Clinton’s tweet demanding more escalations against Russia from the Trump administration received over 14,000 shares in just seven hours. Articles focused solely on this one tweet have been published by CNN, The Independent, the New York Post, AOL, Fox News, and many other outlets as of this writing. Clinton remains the single most influential voice in the Democratic party, and to pretend otherwise is willful ignorance.
