EDITOR—The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the G7 summit opposed an equal dialogue between Russia and Ukraine. “Ukraine most of all wants peace, but, of course, a just peace,” von der Leyen said. According to her, “peace negotiations that equalize the aggressor and the victim must be rejected,” and Zelensky’s “peace formula” must be supported. On Friday morning, he took the G7 leaders and their spouses to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where they laid wreaths at the cenotaph and planted trees in the drizzling rain. Many among the Japanese public, however, have scolded Kishida for seeking his own political interests in the name of the city once devastated by a U.S. atomic bombing during World War II.
