In absolute unison with the revolutionary Cuban people, the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH) calls on the entire world to remain alert and oppose the interference that the U.S. government and its cronies intend to apply in Cuba. We send a warning about the implications of the recent campaign for a “humanitarian corridor” that the United States is promoting under the pretext of the pandemic, because Cuba is not only a unique country in the South, which, in addition to being among the first in the world in the vaccination ranking, thanks to its universal policies of humanistic health care and high professionalism, has one of the lowest death rates for the pandemic. Cuba has supported dozens of countries with their offering of humanity assistance to save lives, while the so called “humanitarian interventions” imposed by the United States are all about occupations, designed only to bring about destruction, misery and the most atrocious violations against the dignity of nations and individuals.

YANIS IQBAL—As neoliberal brutality forced the Haitian masses to take to the streets, Moise’s rule became authoritarian. Beginning from October 2019, he ruled by decree after dissolving parliament when elections could not be organized. Haiti’s armed forces were reinstated after being disbanded in 1995, the powers of the police were bolstered, and a National Intelligence Agency – accountable only to the president – was established. Moise also proposed a referendum to establish a new constitution, which would have increased the dominance of the president.

Memo to Russian Liberals: Get Some Perspective & Don’t Be So Starry-Eyed About the U.S.
18 minutes readNATYLIE BALDWIN—The implication throughout the article seems to be that the United States (and other western “democracies”) doesn’t have this kind of discrepancy in how it officially presents itself and how it really operates. It’s always understood that the western democracies, particularly the United States, are the standard-bearers of honest and democratic government. I often find myself wanting to ask these writers what information they are basing their assessments of the United States on because it doesn’t have much relationship to reality.
Let’s start with government corruption in the U.S. At the federal level – and to a lesser degree at state and local levels – a system of legalized bribery is how politicians get elected to office. It costs millions, even billions of dollars, to successfully run for federal public office. Most of that money comes from corporations, the wealthy and their PAC’s. Candidates who can’t compete in raising that kind of money don’t get elected and wealthy donors expect something in return for their investment. This system has several legal justifications, starting with the legal idea in 19th century jurisprudence that corporations have the same constitutional rights as human beings.

Cuba in the grip of a color revolution; beware of media lies
6 minutes readBeware of the way Cuba protests are being “explained” in the US & western media, warns Caleb Maupin. This is just a long-planned color revolution against Cuba, a “Cubamaidan” for suckers. When was the last time the US press celebrated a revolution? Never. They only celebrate chaos that benefit US imperialism, that is, counter-revolution. So, reform, yes, perhaps, says Caleb. No government is perfect, certainly not a government functioning under enormous and longstanding foreign-imposed stresses. But CIA -sponsored “revolution? No! Besides, keep in mind many of the protests are about things the US empire itself has caused through its decades long blockade, that even includes vital articles used in the medical field.

PEPE ESCOBAR—Patrushev knew Moscow could not offer any substantial measure of support to the current Kabul arrangement because doing so would burn bridges the Russians would need to cross in the process of engaging the Taliban. Patrushev knows that the continuation of Team Ghani is absolutely unacceptable to the Taliban – whatever the configuration of any future power-sharing agreement. So Patrushev, according to diplomatic sources, definitely was not impressed.
