P. GREANVILLE—Being the most rabidly capitalistic, the Anglo-American business class and its political allies bear the most responsibility for this tragedy. Domestically, and for generations now, administration after administration has dragged its feet in terms of decisive environmental protection and restoration, when not actively behaving as a pimp handing over the nation’s natural assets to the business suits for what amounts in most cases to a pittance.

The Jimmy Dore Show
Jimmy and Prof. Richard Wolff discuss the increasing pushback by workers to “mandates” and employer commands that are issued by government bureaucrats who carry no respect in the working class. The current wave of strikes—badly covered by the media—is another symptom that the moment of actual clashes with the power establishment may be approaching.

What the Incurably Prostituted US Media Won’t Ever Show You: Huge Protests in Chile Against the Rotten Native Oligarchy
6 minutes readCHILE has an enormous middle class, many of whom still support centrist and rightist parties, and did not join Dr Allende’s revolution, and there’s still the question of what to do with a large and well trained criminal army, an efficient killing machine still potent in numbers and weaponry, who know there could be consequences for their betrayals in case of a real revolutionary triumph. Not to mention a politically savvy and relatively large ruling class sure to be supported in case of need by the US oligarchy. Advancing toward socialism remains a hard and complicated road for the Chilean masses, but they have no choice as the oligarchy continues to strangle them economically and politically. Below, two videos that mirror the ongoing struggle.

BRUCE LERRO—The New Agers are not bashful about thinking there is nothing wrong with material success. (Heelas, New Age Movement 58-67). Neither do they seem to worry that the cost of their workshops and lectures might be beyond the financial reach of working-class or poor people. In the index of The Aquarian Conspiracy there is no entry about either capitalism or socialism. What this means to me is that economics is not thought of in a systematic way, as in calling it “capitalism”. Rather, it is seen as “the economy”. It seems to have never crossed their minds that they might be promoting a spiritual capitalism. Neopagans are very critical of the New Age leaders charging large sums of money for what spiritual knowledge they have to offer.

A Climate Disaster Zone, Not a Military Superpower
34 minutes readMICHAL T KLARE—At this moment, the Department of Defense is preparing a new edition of its National Defense Strategy and this time climate change will finally be officially identified as a major threat to American security. In an executive order signed on January 27th, his first full day in office, President Joe Biden directed the secretary of defense to “consider the risks of climate change” in that new edition.
There can be no doubt that the Chinese military leadership will translate that new National Defense Strategy as soon as it’s released, probably later this year. After all, a lot of it will be focused on the sort of U.S. military moves to counter China’s rise in Asia that have been emphasized by both the Trump and Biden administrations. But it will be interesting to see what they make of the language on climate change and if similar language begins to appear in Chinese military documents.
