EDITORS—This tweet by Glenn Greenwald yesterday reminded us of the necessity to warn people against falling for the inevitable gush of phony praise upon the death of one of the great scumbags of our time, a man who managed to stand out in a crowded field of despicable criminals and phonies in the service of imperialism and entrenched privilege, while waving the flag of patriotism. In fact, even his military credentials are contested —and by fellow vets no less, many of whom have a completely different take on this opportunistic and sociopathic politician.

Where Was the 3rd World While Americans Armed & Supplied Terrorists To Destroy Syria?
47 minutes readJAY JANSON—The above two examples of articles of faked or false news seems to be enough for the majority of First World readers to give their blanket support, disinterested acceptance or indifference to genocidal action by Americans, but when the less sophisticated and less gullible great populations of economically struggling and financially suffering majority humanity in Third World arrive to having the time and media to inform themselves, the obvious lies of the First World justifying profitable genocide will not be believed nor the genocide tolerated.

KIT—Our response? Our defense of our “values”? Use the armies of online propagandists our governments employ – their existence was reported in the Guardian – in order to undermine, or undo the democratic will of the Russian people. Rice-Oxley is positing this with a straight face. Russia is such a destabilising threat to “our democratic values”, such a moral vacuum, that we must use subterfuge to undermine their elections and remove their popular head of state.

BILL VAN AUKEN—One can well imagine the response to similar scenes were they taking place in Russia, China, Syria, Iran, North Korea or Venezuela. Nikki Haley would be using her seat on the UN Security Council to issue blistering denunciations of “atrocities,” threats of military force and hypocritical invocations of “human rights.” The killings would dominate the front pages of every newspaper and lead the broadcast news.

BABA BEIJING IS GOING TO SHOVE ZTE WAY UP UNCLE SAM’S BACKSIDE
27 minutes readJEFF J. BROWN—In the long term, what the Trump administration did may be the best thing that ever happened to China. A good comparison is Russia, where the equally ridiculous and illegal bans, boycotts and sanctions have turbocharged Big Bear’s financial sector, agriculture, hydrocarbons, manufacturing and industries. Western extortion can make smaller countries’ people really suffer and die from all the shortages, especially those with concentrated production in only one or two sectors. That is the case for Cuba (sugar), Iraq, Iran and Venezuela (hydrocarbons), and North Korea (mining and heavy industry). What the US is trying to do to strangle Russia has been a colossal miscalculation and what it has just done to ZTE will prove to be just as devastating – not to China – but to the West.
